Astral Social Club - Neil Campbell with

Sub-Merged
Astral
Social Club is the pseudonym of one Neil Campbell, a man
whose involvement in the UK's experimental music scene has been
well documented. Through his work with the Vibracathedral Orchestra
and the Sunroof! guise he has consistently amazed and enthralled
listeners, not only bringing together a huge legion of fans
but also managing to influence countless young acts. (Bookmat).
The live experience throws up in the air straight-ahead drumbox/synthesizer
jamming, computer-processing, swirling loops, primitive vocal
holler, noise catharsis, tranquil guitar shimmer and a busload
of other angles, cranks up the volume and adds a visceral, seething
human presence before letting it fall all over the audience.
His new release on Important Records, Neon
Pibroch is highly recommended and has of course been already
met with much acclaim.
For this gig Neil teams up with old collaborator John Clyde-Evans
(aka Tirath Singh Nirmala), another stalwart of the curious
and magical Northern England school of psy-folk-drone-punk.
In fact at the time of writing the song to play as Neil's website
opens is 'Tirath's Mashup' - listen!
This should be a very exciting and visceral gig!
Martin
Archer
- Sopranino,
alto and baritone saxophones, bass clarinet, bass recorder,
bass harmonica, harmonium, violectronics, keyboards, software
instruments.
As a live performer, Archer seeks to avoid the inert and inexpressive
performance style inherent in much live electronic music. He
is a unique inhabitant of the school of English maverick composers.
